TAMPARULI: The State Government remains committed to ensuring that no child in Sabah, particularly those from the B40 group, is left behind in accessing quality education.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said various education-related initiatives introduced under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 1.0 development plan — including school assistance and scholarship programmes — have helped support students and reduce educational disparities across the state.
“These initiatives will be continued and strengthened under the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 development plan to ensure greater inclusivity and equal opportunities for Sabah’s children,” he said.

His speech was delivered by Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, at the presentation of spectacles to schoolchildren sponsored by Sabah Electricity under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tamparuli here today.
Hajiji stressed that all State Government-linked companies (GLCs) must play a more proactive role in assisting communities in need, particularly families from the B40 income group.
“Contributing to society is not merely an option but a responsibility, in line with the purpose for which GLCs were established,” he said.
He urged every GLC to continue implementing CSR programmes that are impactful, targeted and sustainable, especially in areas related to education empowerment, welfare support and human capital development for the people of Sabah.
The Chief Minister also said all initiatives would be monitored in a transparent and systematic manner, with periodic reports submitted to the State Government to ensure accountability and programme effectiveness.
“A holistic approach that balances operational excellence, financial sustainability and social responsibility is in line with the State Government’s aspirations under the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 agenda,” he added.
He also encouraged students who received assistance under the CSR programme to use the contribution as motivation to remain focused, work hard and continue striving for academic excellence.
